Überwald Elixir

The concoction should ideally chill overnight to allow the vanilla to infuse.
  • 4 to 5 blood oranges
  • one 3-pound sack Cara Cara oranges
  • one sack of juice oranges
  • one vanilla bean
  1. Juice each of the oranges and decant into a pitcher with a lid or a large glass jar (I'm partial to a 1.9 L Mason jar for this).
  2. Using a paring knife, cut down the length of the vanilla bean. With the back of the knife, scrape the seeds out of each side of the bean and add to the jar. Add the vanilla bean to the jar. Stir the mixture, or seal the jar and shake to combine.
  3. Chill at least 2 hours, but ideally overnight. Serve as is, or add some to a champagne flute and top with sparkling wine for a delicious mimosa.
